Burnout: Peter Hewitt Weekend. The Antihero team descended into San Diego to rip it up and help celebrate the awesome force which is Peter F—in’ Hewitt. A few grinds, a few laughs and a big blow-out photo show with a special video and musical guest made this bash one for the history books. It's director and writer, Rick Charnoski, along with Buddy Nichols, has been obsessively making independent films about skateboarding for the last 24 years but Warm Blood is a whole other type of film. Ten years in the making, the film revolves around a loose narrative of a teenage runway in Modesto, California in the mid-1980s.

Inhabiting the fringes of Modesto, California in the toxic haze of the 1980’s, WARM BLOOD is a politically subversive, searing collage of sound, narrative, documentary, and trash B movie meta narratives, hand stitched by Rick Charnoski in his feature debut.

After the underground success of their first film, the super 8mm skateboard classic Fruit of the Vine (1999), Coan "Buddy" Nichols and Rick Charnoski founded the independent production company Six Stair, which operates under the same DIY ethics of the subculture that raised them: skateboarding and punk rock. Joel Tudor is a surfer, primarily known for longboarding, and competitive grappler from San Diego, California. His father, Joe, who ignored the shortboard revolution himself and never abandoned his longboard, first put his Joel on a surfboard during a family trip to Puerto Vallarta.

And this week Tudor will join them. Three years since a fairly gnarly knee injury sidelined him for months and 15 years since winning his last word title, the 43-year old will surf in the WSL New York Longboard Classic. By Greg Bedrosian. February 13, 2021. The original Rolex Oyster Perpetual Explorer II debuted in 1971. Fifty years later, it’s accurate to say that the Explorer II was a flop at its launch. The intended purpose (or at least marketing position) of the Explorer II at inception was a watch for use while spelunking.
